Start with the questions people ask about you
Clients, candidates and your own staff all have questions. List the ones that come up in sales calls, interviews and onboarding. Each answer is a video.
Tap a question to see the video it becomes.
- The videoA clear 90-second explainer of what you do and who it's for.
- The videoA recruitment video: real employees on their team, their day and why they stay.
- The videoA walk-through of the key features, with a person and the screen.
- The videoA short leadership update for staff, clients or LinkedIn.
Add videos that put faces to the name: leadership, teams and the workplace. People trust a company when they can see the people inside it.
- LeadershipThe people setting the direction.
- TeamsWho does the work, and how.
- WorkplaceYour office, site or studio.
Set up the phone properly
Use the light you already have
Book a meeting room with a window and seat each person facing it, with the window behind the phone. Soft daylight looks better than office ceiling lights. Avoid seating anyone with a window behind them, which turns them into a silhouette.
Switch off overhead lights if they flicker or mix colors, and keep the same setup for everyone, so a series of interviews looks like it was filmed on one day.
Get clear sound in a busy office
Offices are noisier than they seem: air conditioning, phones, printers and conversations in the corridor. Book a small, furnished meeting room, put a sign on the door, and keep the phone within an arm's length of the speaker.
Tick what you can do in your room.
Help colleagues feel at ease on camera
- Chat for a minute first
- Ask questions, not scripts
- Let them use their own words
- Look at the lens for direct messages
- Hand them a script to read
- Film in a busy open-plan office
- Over-rehearse
- Pack in every company value
Most people aren't comfortable reading a script. Ask questions instead and let them answer in their own words. For a message to the viewer, like a leadership update, look at the lens; for an interview, look at the person asking.
Don't worry about mistakes. Pause, then start the sentence again. In the edit we keep the best take and remove the rest, so you never need to get it perfect in one go.
- Take 1Lost the sentence
- PauseStarted again
- Take 2Stumbled on a word
- Take 3Clear and calm
Check what's on screens and walls
Office backgrounds often show more than you think: whiteboards, client names, screens and documents. Check every shot, and get permission from colleagues before they appear. If something slips in, we can blur it in the edit.
Send the clips and let the edit do the heavy lifting
Upload the original files from your phone to Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer rather than sending them by messaging apps, which compress the video. In the edit we tighten every answer, add your brand style, name titles and captions, and deliver versions for your website, LinkedIn, YouTube and internal channels.
- 01TightenPauses, slips and repeats removed.
- 02BrandYour fonts, colors and logo.
- 03TitlesNames, roles and key points.
- 04CaptionClean captions throughout.
- 05DeliverWebsite, LinkedIn and internal.
